I have just installed photoshop CS3 recently .After i resized my photo,i have been experiencing lost of quality compared with the photo before the resizing.I never had this problem in CS2..weird.. Please help...
It not possible that CS3 is bad than CS2. When you resize the photo and save it, does it ask for a Quality level? Did you choose the highest quality level?
In the image size window are you making sure that the resampling box is checked? Then from the drop-down box select Bicubic Smoother instead of Bicubic. Bicubic smoother should always be used for the web! Try it and let me know if it makes any difference to what you are getting now. :-)
@Annes yes,i have tried that and other options as well, don't seem to make any difference though..Besides,resizing using the web-based services looks even better..hmm maybe I am just being too perfectionist.. Thanks anyway :-)
Have you tried: File -- Scripts -- Image Processor? I've used this in CS2 and now in CS3, and it works perfectly. Gives you all the possible options you could need and does a batch in no time. And it does retain the EXIF information. (I presume you sharpen, too.)
if the inquiry concerns web images: in save for web > image size > enter the size and rendering intent >then hit apply. note that save for web converts photoshop's assigned work space to sRGB. the intention for image processor was to run batches with attached action(s). rather clumsy for an individual edited image, and it leaves the image in photoshop's assigned workspace rather than the preferable sRGB for web images. best...jf
You might have changed the sampling method - try experementing with 'smoother' and 'sharper'. Also, most web-based services I use also shrink your files down to size and then presume that you want them sharpening so that they still look crisp when they're posted online - this may explain why you prefer the results of online tools. It can be mimicked in CS3 by running 'sharpen' or 'unsharp mask' (if you want more control) after resampling.
