I thank you for adding the border option in this update, I find it very useful. I have some observations or questions though. I have posted 1 photo using the border and updated 2 from the archive, I set up a border of 3 pixels on every side. The photos have been resized to 800 pixels width previous to the upload, sharpness has been adjusted as well. After uploading I noticed there is a loss of sharpness in the photos, does applying the border resizes the photo upon upload? What is the recommended step in order to keep the sharpness of the photo? Thank you for your support!
I had put some borders on a couple of my recent posts. Those who commented spoke of liking the "framing" (which I took as referring to these new borders). But on my screen, no borders showed. Does this mean we can't see our own post's borders, or is something amiss?
Images can only have a maximum width of 800 pixels (for large size) and this includes the border width. So if you specify a 3 pixel border (on every side) then during the upload procedure your image will be resized to 794 pixels wide.
It is difficult for the script to resize from 800 pixels to 794 pixels and yes, this will affect image quality. To address this issue, it is recommended to upload either (a) a larger image, say 1000 pixels in width or (b) upload an image with the correct final width, in this case 794 pixels. Resizing from 1000 to 794 will have less impact on quality than resizing from 800 to 794. And obviously, resizing from 794 to 794 will have the least impact on quality (as no resizing is required).
lookcloser - The original (non-bordered) image is being cached by your web browser. Press F5 (or Ctrl-F5) to force refresh the cache and the borders should then appear for you.
Can I add a border to my photos after the fact? I want to add a border to my photos during upload but only if I can go back and add a border to the ones that i've already uploaded. Make any sense? Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure Edward but I think you can't add border to a picture after it is uploaded, unless you provide the file again when changing the properties.
