I use Google's free photo tool, Picasa, to manage my photos. It has a nice feature that allows you to add plugins for adding photos to various sites like flickr, facebook, blogger, etc. I was wondering if anyone has thought of adding a plugin for Aminus3. When I have some more time I may take a look at building it myself.
So anyone else out there use Picasa and thing this would be useful? In the end what I would really love is a more automated way of uploading to Aminus3.
We've thought about creating some new ways to import photos into Aminus3 (Lightroom plugins, Picassa etc). It would be good for people to reply to this thread if this is something you would be interested in so we can gauge the interest.
We don't have development resources allocated at this time but if you would like to take a crack at writing it yourself, we could potentially work with you to get things set up on our end.
Please send an email to support@aminus3.com with your ideas and we can discuss in more detail.
Hey Jason, Well, based on the overwhelming response to this post, I figure this should move to the top of the list, right?? Ok maybe not.
But, I'd be willing to take a crack at writing a plugin for either Lightroom or Picasa. I don't have a ton of time, but I'll take a crack at it.
In order to do so, we'd need to decide what mechanism we would use to get the files up on Aminus3. I've just skimmed through some of the documentation from the lightroon SDK and they have examples on building an export plugin that would work with a websites upload API (which is how the Flickr export plugin works). There is also the ability to upload to an FTP server.
What do you think would be the best way to interface with the Aminus3 site?
I think the plug-in idea is a good one. We had another guy who was looking at writing a Lightroom plugin as well. Might be helpful to coordinate. The other challenge is getting the server authentication setup since we don't currently have an open API.
Again, best thing is to email support@aminus3.com to discuss further.
