    Hey guys,
I need your help, for my fav online dictionary ( http://dict.leo.org ) won´t help me here - I look for a translation of the german word Freistellung - etwas freistellen,
means if you concentrate the focus on the motive by excluding the rest for example with dof, with colour or anything - what would be the appropriate word on english?

Maybe it´s a nice idea to make a multilingual collection of photographer slang like a glossar here - what do you think?

    Cheers,
    Daniela

I think you're looking for the word 'isolate'. You can isolate a subject in a photo by using a shallow DOF so it stands out against a blurry background.

Thank you Monique - sometimes I can´t think straight ;)
  3.
    and there`s an abbrevition I don´t understand *POV* ?
    what does pov stand for...?

    power of vampires?

    *I shall not use abbreviviations....*

I'm pretty sure it stands for "point of view", and DOF is "depth of field"....
Man !!! English language loves acronyms and I'm getting lost in them too.. !!
