Sometimes what you're looking at is not necessarily what you think it is....
Things are open to interpretation and allow your imagination wander like a child in a candy factory... abstract photography is the genre that allows us to do that...
1. What can you say about the photography rules and techniques (composition, lighting, rule of thirds, story telling, etc., etc....) used in the image ? ...and
mmm... what is that? hair in water? nice curves. they move you from one side to another. with emotion. just like a roller coaster. woooooooooow... i like the bubbles. especially the big one. it's sharp!
Ha, that's a very unique way of describing an image, good job Payam and a good start ! Isn't it hard to describe a photograph when there is no apparent subject ? We expect an image to tell us what to think quickly and an abstract like this requires some effort on the part of our brain and our brain by nature, is lazy.. (at least mine is)
Everyday we are bombarded by images from billboards on the roadside, television screens, magazines, web pages, that scream a specific message at us and within a fraction of a second we know what it is and we quickly move on.... This crazy pace made us numb to visual stimulus and a quick scanning of images is now the norm. We lost the ability or desire to slow down the pace of our scanning and once again learn how to study an image and ponder....
And that was one of the reasons I chose this photograph, to give all of us an opportunity to slow down and ponder...
You are very right about slowing down to study this image. It took a while for my brain to decide exactly what it was, then to take it in. I felt as if I was under water and it was gently swaying to the currents. Very soothing.
Presentation! Aside from the ordinary, like appreciating the sharpness, light, contrast and the like, the presentation of the image pulls you to look deeper and try to see the story. This shot is one of those.
Amazing clarity and very original! I love it. The light and tones are outstanding. I went back to the image (Roman told me so! hahahaha) and looked closer at the settings and was surprised to see the shallow DOF and slow shutter speed. I wonder what kind of light conditions was this shot taken in. It worked out amazingly well although I would love to see it using a wider DOF giving us a better look at the "whole" piece; just as a comparison. ;) I like the image as is - nicely framed, very interesting and intriguing. What did I learn from this image? To slow down sometimes and look at everyday things a bit closer.... :)) And, for me, to try something different than portraits and kids at play ;) Did it take me somewhere? Oh, yes! My mind was getting "excited" (grin) Great choice Roman! Something different that’s for sure :)
I find this to be an interesting image, dynamic and static at the same time. The contrast works wonderfully. I do wish that the larger, dark spiral was moved to the left and placed in the "rule of thirds" area-ish; think that might strengthen the entire photo. I'm not finding any sort of story in this image but do think it is powerful. My eye continues to move within the frame even when I look at the image for a long time.
I thought this was going to be a smoke image, till I opened it up and really gave it a good look. Lovely effort.
