I just bought a Canon EFS 17-85mm lens and started using it May 9. Is it possible to acquire spots this early? I just used it extensively for maybe 5 times. Changing lens maybe just the first 2 days. do you thinks it was defect from the lens when I bought it or acquired in the process... What I'm boggled with is, not all my shots has the spots.

Here are sample of the images.. http://picasaweb.google.com/mats128/Hawaii?authkey=Gv1sRgCI6S2eLVr-mxFA#5339618106506697794 ( Sorry, I don't know how to do a link here)

Hi Mats - looks to me like it's just dust on your sensor. Easy way to check - take some photos of a wall or other bland item (so that you would easily be able to see the spots) using different f-stops, e.g. f/4 through to f/16. You should see that the spots only appear on the photos with larger f-stop numbers. If so, then it's a case of having to clean your sensor, and sometimes just using a simple blower will sort out the problem.
