Where do the JPEG artefacts come from after uploading my photo to Aminus3? I can't see them in the original or resized file in Lightroom or Photoshop CS3 and I've tried everything to
make them disappear. F.e. my photo of today http://monique.aminus3.com/image/2009-04-29.html There are horizontal lines in the sky and there are some strange things around
the hat of the lady on the left side. It doesn't happen with all my photo's but some of them I can't upload because they look horrible :( Hope somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong!
  1.
Monique - do you size the image to 800 px wide before uploading? If you do, and the artifacts appear, then I have no idea. If you don't,it may be due to resizing algorithm on AM3.

One very important consideration, if you are using the Aminus3 borders, you should upload a larger image (say 1200 pixels wide) as we need to resize the image to fit in the border. The larger image will resize better in the border - otherwise you will get compression (say uploading 800 pixel width with border)

@Jenningsfotos: I size the images to 800 px so it's not the resizing on AM3. Thanks for the reply!
@Jason: I don't use the borders provided by Aminus3 but make them in Photoshop, so that can't be the problem also.
But do you guys see what I'm talking about in the photo I took as an example, because maybe it's my screen or could it be that it shows more on a light background?

Monique - I do some see some artifacts in today's photo
Although looking back, most your images usually upload quite well - like this one for example
    http://monique.aminus3.com/image/2009-04-27.html

We do apply some compression on photos for non-A+ members. Usually (as you can see from the link above) the result is quite minimal but some images it is more noticeable than others. That could be the case for today's post (like around his hat and near his back).

Yes I agree, it's not noticeable on all images only a few and most of the time they are o.k. Guess I have to live with it ;) Thanks for replying Jason!

My eyes see no artifacts in your fine pictures.
