OK, here's another one, food for thought. What do you think guys? All opinions welcome !!
Also, any tips on how to photograph fog, what is your technique, your successes and failures... all this would be very welcome. It would benefit all the artists here at Aminus3.
Hi, My name is Anita and I am an placing myself on thin ice here,... ;0) but that's the way I learn the fastest. This image has several planes (?planos in Spanish) which makes it a worthy landscape image. I would turn it into a black & white image with the channel mixer. With curves I would give it a correct white (CMYK between 1% and max 5%) and give it more contrast. I think this will give more drama to the image which fog challenges already,... I am not sure but I think the gradient tool could also be a help to control the light on the borders of the different planes,... Does this make any sense?
I love fog and you have captured it well here. My suggestion would be more at the point of shooting rather than editing because I know very little about photo editing tools. As you can see from this image, the fog "disappears" in the white sky area of the top. This is a good reminder that in order to get that foggy feel, it's best to have a dark background like those tree-filled hills in the lower part of the composition. It also helps if the subject is farther away, since the fog "disappears" the closer we are to it -- reminds me of a rainbow's end! Well, those are just some random thoughts. I know that everyone wants to have more good advice like Anita's so sorry I can't offer help on PS and other editing tools.
Thank you guys very much for the helpful tips. I like the idea of turning this into B&W, Anita. I think I'll give it a try. And those are excellent points on how to approach shooting fog, GJC. I do hope that one day you'll decide to post something from your great portfolio here. I believe that this forum is not only to ask for a critique in order to improve but also to show how things are done.
