By request, we've added three new Forum Categories...

    Photography - Critique
If you have an image that you would like others to review, ask for a critique here in the forum.
We have an amazing resource of talented and helpful photographers on Aminus3.
Sometimes, blog comments such as "great photo" could be expanded on or some constructive feedback might be offered to help the photographer do it better.
On the forum, people can ask for real feedback and will be expecting a honest review of their image.

Note that to link to an image, you can use the image bbCode tag like this
    [ img]http://mywebsite.com/myimage.jpg

    Community - Discuss Post
Some Aminus3 blog posts contain useful information on techniques or other tips that would be helpful to share with the whole community.
Post a link to the original Aminus3 post and continue the discussion in the forum so it is more accessible to everyone.
This is also a good place to discuss posts that have a lot of comments and you want a better system for tracking a discussion.

Note that to link to web page, you can use the url bbCode tag like this
    [ url=http://mylink.com]My Link Text[ /url] (remove space after [)

    Community - Themes
While we don't have support for site-wide themes at this time, there have still been some great grassroots theme initiatives.
Get creative and spread the word here in the forum about what type of theme or challenge you'd like to propose to the Aminus3 community.

    Hi Jason,
This is great you guys are adding new features. Hopefully this will create more traffic in the forums. I think they are totally underutilized. And here is another request or rather a question. Is it possible to create a post in a category that would always stay at the top of the category and be somehow locked so people coming to a given group can read it but not respond to it. That would be a great place to put information pertaining to a given group, what's the purpose of the group, instruction and the like. It would serve as a help resource for the users and would stay at the top all the time. Of course, this would have to be done through an administrator of the forums, but the text could be supply by users.

Yup, it is possible to mark topics as sticky - I'll see what I can do :)

Hi Roman - this topic has now been made sticky and should appear at the top of the discussions -
there is also a tip on creating URL links in this article which I saw you were asking about but I think you've got it down

    cheers,
    jason

Hi Jason, I'm not quite sure if I get it.... Can I make a "sticky" topic? I would like to write some instructions and rules to follow and some examples on how to create links to your blog and show just a thumb in the post and have it "stick"at the top of the critique forum. How do I do it ?

    thanks Jason

    Roman

Hi Roman - sorry I didn't read your request again before answering... write the article about how to use the critique forum and then I can mark it as sticky.

    thanks!

    got it... will do.

    thanks Jason

It would be helpful to know the specific editing software and version being utilized.

Jerry - when you say "specific editing software" what are you referring to ?

As for image and web links, there is now a formatting tool bar above the forum comment text box that you can use to format your posts. This should make things a bit less confusing I hope and allow people to link easier.

The toolbar is terrific for people who do not know how to code but also, for people like me, who do know and are lazy! Thanks!
