Hi everyone, I'm throwing down a little challenge here. It's a theme for the first 3 days of February and I hope to have your participation. We've done this before and it's always a lot of fun.
But this time, let's try something different: I'd like you to spend 3 days posting your best street photography in black and white. Street photography is generally understood to include images taken (usually - though not necessarily - of people) in a candid public setting such as a sidewalk, often with a normal to wide angle lens.
So if you're interested, get out there and capture some decisive moments! If you are interested in participating, let me know through mycontact linkand I will add your name to the list when it's time.
Some people have qualms about photographing strangers (I know I do). There are many approaches, but often the most direct one is the best. I've collected a number of tutorials from YouTube for instruction and inspiration: Here's Joel Meyerowitz, Jeff Mermelstein (part 1,2, and 3), Garry Winogrand (part 1, part 2), Bruce Gilden, and Henri Cartier Bresson (there are 10 parts of this interview; you can find them all here).
Also, you're more than welcome to announce this project on your own pages as well, just include the link to my page (http://electro.aminus3.com/) so that I can compile a list of participants that will help people find the images on theme days.
By the way, if anyone is worried that it might be too late: it isn't. You are welcome to participate whether you contact me or not. All you have to do is post Street Photos in Black and White on your blog on the days of the theme. However, if you do contact me, I will add you to the list that I will keep on my page so that other people can find you as a theme participant. Here is an example from a previous theme. We had at least 46 participants that time! This time, we're up to 33 by last count.
