For those of you looking to make some money with your photography, there is a relatively new stock site called Cutcaster. Cutcaster has a unique buying and selling marketplace model which allows you to set a price and let people bid on your photos. They liken their model to a stock market, where supply and demand can dictate the price of your images.

You can check out my Cutcaster page here as an example of what a member page looks like
At this time (after about a month on the site) I have not sold any images, but I have also not been doing too much yet to promote my portfolio either.

The process is comparable to other stock sites (such as iStockPhoto, Dreamstime etc), you sign up, post some images, and wait for approval based on the type of quality of your photos. You can also set a base price or use the Cutcaster Algorithm to determine the price. Also similar to other stock sites, they have an affiliate program where you can earn money by bringing new photographers and buyers to the site. In the interest of fair disclosure... note the links in this post reference my affiliate link, which credits me for sending you to the site.

On a side topic of discussion, would anyone be interested in selling images for digital rights management directly from your blog? I'd like to hear some opinions about pros and cons of selling the rights to use your images from your Aminus3 website. Would you envision Aminus3 as handling the back end or would it be preferable to use an existing stock site to handle the transactions with Aminus3 acting as a pass through?

I missed this one, and personally, I like the idea of keeping my photoblog just for its basic purpose .

Interesting. Haven't thought of selling the rights from here. How do you see it working. Open slather from the blog or restricted only to the images in your Portfoio?

I suppose the idea would be to sell images directly from your blog with a Purchase a License link or button. There would be a way to opt out so you could only sell certain images. As this thread is a bit old, you can see that we have not chosen to go in this direction at this time although it is still a possibility longer term.
